A Rainbow In Someone's Cloud

“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” - Maya Angelou

I took this picture of this cool mural last week when we were on our sunny, warm and fun family vacation.  Two days after we got home, our sweet old Golden Retriever was limping and then wouldn’t stand up because of the pain in her swollen hind legs. The next day, Anna and I both tested positive for Covid.

After a trip to the emergency vet, blood work and only one day of pain and anti-inflammatory meds, Emmy is happily walking and back to her happy self, no more meds needed.  Anna and I are feeling a little better every day.  After one night of shivering, being feverish, nauseous with a pounding headache, aching all over and a couple days of staying in bed, I can see the light.

I’m so thankful for all of the love and care I’m receiving from my family and friends.  They are the rainbows in my clouds right now.  My husband is taking care of everything, all our meals, including my smoothies, soups and fresh-pressed juices.  My family and friends are checking in, calling and texting me, encouraging and loving me from a distance.

I’m learning to not dread and fear that bad things will happen, because they will.  It is part of life.  At the same time, so many good things are happening in the midst of the bad things. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day here in our town.  Today it is cold and rainy.  There will be wonderful times and there will be hard times.  My hope is to always see the good and be thankful even in the middle of the storm.
