All Things Are Possible

“And far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can't see

And this mountain that's in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea”

- It is Well by Bethel Music

One of the lowest points in my life was going through years of unexplained infertility before we were blessed with Anna and then Kate seventeen months later.  I am so thankful for the fertility experts, doctors and the loving support and prayers of our family and friends.

If I could go back in time and encourage my younger 30 year old self, here are some things I would tell her:

  • Explore all of your healing options, conventional, natural and every form of medicine available to you.  Be persistent, take charge and do whatever you can to learn about your body and the healing process.

  • Take time to write out your feelings and define clearly what is in your control and what isn’t.  Write out your dream life with detailed best case scenarios, with children through adoption, with children by birth, or with no children.

  • There is power in prayer and asking your friends, family and loved ones to pray with you and for you is so important.  As you know, all things are possible and God hears your prayers.

  • Keep strengthening your marriage with unconditional love, forgiveness, patience and kindness. Be thankful, cherish and invest in all of your loving friendships and relationships.

  • Dream big, consider the details of your optimal health, your relationships, your home and how you want to love your children and serve the world.  Do the next right thing and take an empowering action step, whatever is in your control.  Let go, release and continue to pray.

  • Nourish your body with more fruits and vegetables and less processed food, gluten, dairy and sugar.  Explore more whole food meals and learn more about how food affects you as an individual.

  • If you are feeling inspired to go for your daily run, go for it!  If you are feeling burnt out and tired, consider going for a walk or doing some peaceful yoga.  Rest when you need to and give yourself more grace in every area of your life.

  • Be grateful for all that is going well now.  Remember that whatever happens, you can find joy in life and have opportunities to love and care for others the way you feel called to.  You have so much love to give, please take time now to love and care for yourself.

If you are currently in the midst of a painful time, I hope some of these words of encouragement are helpful to you.  Some day the world may seem more beautiful because of what you are going through right now.   Whatever needs healing - your heart, your mind or your body - I believe you can heal.  Take a step forward and reach out for help when you need it.  All things are possible.
