My Favorite Purple Smoothie

purplesmoothie.jpeg

Almost every morning I have a delicious blueberry-banana chocolate smoothie for breakfast. It is super hydrating and it includes vitamins, minerals, nutrients, protein, antioxidants and all sorts of good stuff to satiate me and give me the energy that I need.

For many years I would eat a cinnamon toast waffle and a French vanilla decaf coffee with 2 teaspoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of non-dairy creamer for breakfast, almost every morning.  I’d be hungry within an hour, feel agitated and have a headache throughout most of the day.

With my current routine, I start off by drinking a full glass of water and ½ lemon or lime freshly squeezed. The lemon or lime water helps to improve skin and digestion, and like the smoothie, is excellent for hydration. After the glass of water, I enjoy my smoothie.

My liquid before lunch routine is hydrating, energizing and tastes great.  If you haven’t tried a smoothie for breakfast before, I highly recommend it.  After you finish your smoothie, then you can have your coffee, if you’d like!

After my smoothie, I often enjoy an organic decaf coffee with some unsweetened vanilla coconut milk, a teaspoon of maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1/2 frozen banana

  • 2 scoops chocolate DNS Powder

  • 1 scoop Daily Fruit & Vegetable Blend

Directions:

  1. Prepare and measure all the ingredients.

  2. Pour them into the blender and blend.

  3. Pour into your favorite smoothie drinking container.

Note: Since posting this recipe, I now add a few drops of liquid Vitamin D, a tablespoon of ground flaxseed, 1/2 frozen avocado and a few organic frozen strawberries too. I also sometimes use different types of non-dairy milk, such as oat or coconut.

Bon appétit!
