Signs + Symptoms

When you are driving on the road and you see a sign that says slow down, you pay attention and slow down, so that you don’t crash into something or drive off the road around a tight corner.  When you experience adverse symptoms in your body, please slow down and pay attention, to potentially avoid it turning into chronic symptoms or a serious disease.

The other night as I was brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed, I noticed my skin was blotchy and bright pink all around the front of my neck.  I didn’t realize that the hot and itchy sensation that I was feeling earlier in the day had become a visible rash. As a health coach, when symptoms appear, I become a health detective and start asking myself questions.

What did I eat or drink recently that was new or different?  Did I use a new lotion, face wash or any other beauty product?  What am I stressing about and thinking or feeling subconsciously that is expressing itself in this burning and inflamed rash?

I thought to myself… I tried a new vegan coffee mix that seemed pretty healthy with simple and pure ingredients, but it could have affected me.  I used a daily sunscreen on my face and neck that I hadn’t used in a while.  A few stressful things have happened recently and I haven’t been sleeping well. So my plan of action was to avoid that coffee mix for a few days, use the other sunscreen that I normally use, practice my emotional release techniques and make sleep a top priority.

Often part of our healing process is to remove physical, mental, and emotional toxicities.

Physical - chemicals, smoking, some drinks and some foods (even healthy ones can be a sensitivity to you and your unique system).  Remove them from your house, your skin and your body.

Mental - our mindset, the way we think and our subconscious limiting beliefs.  Rewire your brain through neuro-linguistic programming, mantra repetition, visualization practices and other techniques.

Emotional - shame, fear, anger, sadness and other low vibration emotions that are normal to feel but harmful to hold onto.  Identify, acknowledge and release these emotions by practicing tapping, meditation, journaling and other emotional freedom techniques.

For a few days, I was intentional about eating and drinking only what I know is normally healing, nourishing and energizing to me.  I used my basic normal everyday beauty products.  I dug deep with my journaling, named, acknowledged, felt and released my emotions.  I spent time listening to different calming tapping meditations.  When I couldn’t fall asleep until late at night, I made sure I caught up on lost sleep with naps.

I feel better now, my neck doesn’t itch and it doesn’t look blotchy and bright pink. I will try new foods and drinks, I will try new products, I will be exposed to different toxins and stressful situations will happen.  I know it is all part of our journey.  When I see warning signs and symptoms such as skin issues, digestive upset, headaches, anxiousness, fatigue or others, I will slow down, pay attention and do my best to put myself in a position to heal.
