Happy National Dog Day

Our sweet Emmy was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called MMM when she was 4 years old.  After 9 months of serious medication, she suffered horrible side effects and we weren’t sure how long she would live.  She will be 12 years old in November.  Emmy has had some flare-ups over the years, but overall she is a very happy golden and we love her so much.

Here are some of the things we’ve done that I believe have helped a lot.

  • Nourishing diet of fresh Ollie dog food - recipes including ingredients like chicken, carrots, peas, rice, potatoes, spinach and blueberries or turkey, kale, lentils, carrots and pumpkin.

  • Daily exercise and getting out in nature - depending on what she is up for, this could be a short walk out to the backyard to go to the bathroom, a slow stroll over to the neighbors’ house and back or maybe a loop around the neighborhood.

  • Removing toxins - such as the monthly topical tick repellant, fragrant topical sprays for her fur, household fragrance and toxic cleaning products from the home.

  • Plenty of rest - sleeping and napping comfortably wherever she’d like and whenever she’d like.

  • Supplementing strategically - with a joint health supplement and CBD oil.

  • Lots of love - hugs and snuggles every day, telling her all day long how much we love her, how we think she is adorable and that she is the best dog in the world.

Disclaimer:  I’m not a dog expert at all, but we love our dog so much and we will do whatever we believe will help her to live her healthiest, happiest and most pain-free life possible.  Also, I don’t know the best diet for dogs and each person has to decide on their own concerning the pros and cons for tick repellent and other preventative medications.
